DTS

In 2010, I completed a Discipleship Training School with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Kona, Hawaii. The school I did is called Fire and Fragrance. In these short 6 months I grew so deep and so fast in the Lord. With incredible teaching, ministry, worship, and experience God really molded me and laid foundation for my life.

Lecture Phase

This involved 12 weeks of “Lecture Phase.”  The schedule kept us pretty busy.
Monday-Friday we had:
Class from 9am-12pm,
Prayer Room (worship/intercession) 1pm-3pm,
Work duty from 3:30-5:30, Dinner 5:30

Monday night-Ministry Night (Worship and Prayer),
Tuesday Night- Community Outreach (hit the streets of Kona with the gospel),
Monday morning 8am Campus worship,
Thursday night- Corporate Worship Meeting

Over the course of the 3 months we had some awesome speakers come through teaching about Identity, Father heart of God, Biblical worldview, God in us, Revival and Reformation, church planting and evangelism, justice, and many more!!! My theology was greatly challenged. That I might read the Bible for what it states and not to fit into what I already think or what humanistic America is secretly feeding me. To confidently pray knowing He has already given me everything in life and godliness. To use the power he gave back to us at the cross. So many exciting things I am still working through. But primarily, as I grew I realized, so much of it comes back to the basics- love God.

The first and second commandment is the root of everything in a Christian’s life. To love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength. But we love because He first loved us (1 john 4:19) so my foundation MUST be His love for me and then I naturally love Him back, and NOT me attempting to love Him with my efforts and burning out and failing every time. My life is based on His love for me. Then the 2nd commandment and everything else will flow from there!

Outreach

Our school had around 70 people so we sent teams all over the world! It was very exciting. I will share more detail in my e-mail updates. So click here to sign up!

I did decide not to shave during the outreach so, things got a bit hairy.

We were gone for about 10 weeks and saw around 25 people come to Jesus as well as encouraging other believers! We came back with some crazy stories and got to meet some real Christian heroes. I feel absolutely blessed and grateful that the Lord allowed me to experience what I did.

I will not be the same.
